After doing a three year tour with the US Army in 1964, I was then hired by General Telephone Company of California (GTE). One year later I was given a 1896 L.M. Ericsson as a Christmas gift. I was hooked from that day on to find more of these "old" telephones. At that time I thought I was the only "nut" who collected old phones. Through the grapevine I saw where Ron Knappen was selling telephones & parts. Ron had sent me a list of names of who bought either parts or phones from him. One of those names was Al Farmer. I wrote to Al and asked him if he would be interested in forming a telephone collectors club. Later that year we heard that some people were trying to form a telephone club in LaCross, KS and the rest is history. I have been a member of ATCA for almost 50 years. I have met some great people at ATCA who have become very good friends over the years.
