I found a Callophone Co. phone of some sort... I think it may have been a PA system due to the big speaker... It clearly is some sort of portable talking instrument that is battery operated. I can't find anything like it on the internet or elsewhere. The only Callophones I have seen are hifi record players from around 1920's. This phone has a patient date written around the speaking piece with the dates of Mar 19, 1907 and Apr 14, 1908. The Case that has a plug installed into the side of it. It also has a long cord inside on a wheel that plugs into a battery box of some sort. The phone itself plugs into the system and has accessories.
It has a stamped tag with a Type No. of what appears to be C4311 and a Serial No. of 3. Pictures are available.
Any additional information anyone may have is appreciated.

Trying to evaluate candlestick phones for my family. Have 2 both are Western Electric 329w 40AL. Though I've seen plenty examples of this phone online, the ones I'm looking at both have a button on the base and a 3rd wire coming out the back. Can anyone help me to know if phones like this were originally manufactured by Western Elec. as hotel or office phones? Or if you think this is an after market alteration? I know the phones were already old when I last saw them at least 50 years ago.
Thanks for any advice you can share. Sarem

I have stopped by VTS in Salome, AZ a couple times, but no access on those particular days. VTS has a nice website.
